From my work on Pitts I’ve fround the combination pitot static tubes don’t do well giving acturate indications. The culprit is the static source. I went through all this with my Laser with a Whirlwind 200AC prop too. Smoother at high rpm and irritating at 2350 rpm cruise. Cleaned and flow checked the injectors, dynamic compression tested, reclocked the prop to match TDC of #1, couldn’t find anything. Switched from new Aircraft Spruce bushings...

Wow! That's pretty light with a C/S prop. Do you have a starter and electrical system? Was that with the wheel pants and everything?

Are you using the stock hinge to spar attachment? Are you able to see the front of rear spar and it's integrity with the wing? It looks good, but... The longer hinge adds a significant twisting force to the rear spar. From what Tom Edwards has told me about the conversions he's done I would keep a c...
