Re: excessive loss of oil during aerobatics

Hi Alberto, Thanks for your suggestion! We have an electronic tach and the gasket on the tach fitting is tight. We are now changing the gasket for the fuel pump, filter housing and one other accessory blind plate and hope we can further reduce the oil leakage (which is already quite ok). Best regard...

Re: excessive loss of oil during aerobatics

I just wanted to share that the excessive oil loss which we had on our Extra last year has been fixed. We cleaned the Christen System and rotated the outlet of the air/oil-separator to face to the inside, rather then outwards. We are now down to around 4 quarts of oil in 20 ADV sequences (or about 0...

Re: 540 to 580 conversion for 300S

Our 300S has been converted to the 580 and we have the original cowling. As far as I can tell the engine mount is the same, but I don´t know any details as the conversion was done long ago by the previous owner.

Re: Smoke system

I have heard good reviews about both companies. However comparing the two, Marvin from Smoke System Helper does have a slightly lighter system if you purchase the whole system together. If you plan on making a system from parts you can save a few pounds using a smoke pump that was actually recommen...

Smoke system

Not sure if this post is in the right forum, if not, please feel free to move it to anywhere else. Does anyone here have any experience with parts from those two companies? http://www.smoke-system-helper.com/ http://www.smokingairplanes.com/index.php Which setup produces the best smoke and the least...

Re: Extra Question

Also, remember, it didn't necessarily have to start out as experimental, it could have very well started out certified and then modified ending up in the experimental exhibition category. One of the mid-wings I've been looking at falls into that category. That´s exactly what happened to our "330XS"...

Re: excessive loss of oil during aerobatics

That´s exactly what I thought would be the cause of the oil loss. There is no increase in leakage (a few drops here and there from the accessory case and the cylinderhead return lines, but I´d call that more "sweating then leaking") and I haven´t noticed any oil consumption druing a 3 hour cross cou...

excessive loss of oil during aerobatics

Hello all, I had posted this already in another mailing list, but haven´t got that many replies... so why not give it another chance here and start the discssions... Last weekend I noticed an excessive loss of oil during aerobatics in our Extra (AEIO-580). Up to now we where using about 0.5-1 quart ...

Re: Second Winner in line "Maxu"

Wow, that came as a total surprise to me :-)
I´ll pick the gift card from Aircraft Spruce as my Extra is always in need of some "spare parts".

Many thanks and keep the greasy side up (except for take offs and landings).

Regards,
Markus
