Smoke system

Not sure if this post is in the right forum, if not, please feel free to move it to anywhere else.

Does anyone here have any experience with parts from those two companies?

Which setup produces the best smoke and the least amount of mess?

Currently we use the stock Extra setup with a single "nozzle" a few inches upstream of the end of the exhaust. The "nozzle" is basically a piece of tube flattened with a hammer. While the amount of smoke is "ok-ish", it leaves A LOT of mess on the plane. My guess is, that
a) this "nozzle" needs to be moved much more upstream in the exhaust so the smoke oil more has more time to evaporate and
b) the "nozzle" does not spray fine enough.

I kind of like the idea behind this nozzle

It´s said to spray the oil in a wide, flat pattern.

Our plan is to install two of these, one each between cylinders 1 and 3 respectively 2 and 4. That should give the oil pleanty of time to evaporate. Any suggestions, ideas, comments? Anything to look out, take care? Any idea as to the amount of smoke using two of these nozzles?

Thanks,
Markus

I have heard good reviews about both companies. However comparing the two, Marvin from Smoke System Helper does have a slightly lighter system if you purchase the whole system together. If you plan on making a system from parts you can save a few pounds using a smoke pump that was actually recommended by Marvin from an article he wrote a while back. The is a post on another forum with pics showing the smoke from this pump. If interested let me know and I will find the link.

Thanks for your recommendation. For the moment we´re only planning to change the smoke nozzles, as the rest of the system (tank, solenoid, pump etc.) is working flawlessly. I haven´t measured the flow rate/pressure of the installed smoke oil pump but it seems that the amount of smoke oil should be sufficient for good smoke. However, if you manage to find the link to Marvin´s article, please post it, I´m always happy to read some tech. stuff.

If we can reduce the unburnt oil sticking on the airframe and turn that into smoke I´m a happy man ;-)
